Kansas Turkey Hunting

(Rio Grande Turkey Hunting)

At Dirt Road Outfitters, we provide some of the best guided turkey hunts in Kansas.

Our Kansas turkey-hunting prices are based upon 3 days of turkey hunting, 4 nights of lodging, & expecting the turkey hunter to kill one mature Tom Rio Grande turkeys. Hunts can be anything from spot & stalk to sitting in a ground blind to call in those thunder chickens. Spinning feeders filled with corn are placed out on a few of properties to keep the Rio Grande turkeys in the area. Our turkey hunts occur in units 2 & 5 of Kansas. All hunters are lodged privately on our working farm & cattle ranch. At the farm you can then share stories of your stories of turkey hunt. Click here for pictures of the hunting lodge. Sandhill pastures & fertile farm land with a mix of trees & rolling hills with plenty of food with rich nutrients creates an ideal habitat for the Rio Grande turkey on our farm. With 100 year cottonwoods established on the farm land it provides an ideal roosting spot for the Rio Grande turkeys. With minimal hunting pressure, and large fields with a varying terrain provide the perfect combination for a successful Kansas turkey hunt.

We pride ourselves on making sure you have a great hunt and an experience you will remember for a lifetime. Click here to see the Rio Grande turkeys harvested last season on our family farm.

"Hello Hans, I thought I would let you know that I cannot stop thinking of the great time I had turkey hunting with you and Jim this spring.  I have to confess, I try hard to hide my old age.  But the fact that I got along with Jim so well is evidence of my advanced years.  Let it suffice to say that I have extensive experience with outfitters throughout many years of hunting.  I can say, without reservation, that the time spent with Dirt Road Outfitters was one of the best hunting experiences of my life.  When I arrived, I was given a warm, sincere welcome, and was immediately treated to a delicious home cooked meal.  Hans, you and Jim did your utmost to give me a great hunt.  You both were as engaged as I was in my success.  To say the birds were plentiful seems to fall short.  I was literally covered up in birds every day.  When the hunt was over, I went back home feeling I had made new friends.  Thank you, Jim and your Mom and Dad for your gracious hospitality.  I will spread the good word about Dirt Road Outfitters up here in the Northland. Have a great rest of the summer."

"Hans, I wanted to drop you a note and let everyone know how much Carl and I enjoyed the Kansas turkey hunting trip. The hunt you provided was an experience that we both will remember forever. Yourself, your Mom and Dad, and Jim treated us like family from the time we arrived until the time we left. From the great food that your mom and dad cooked for us, to the extra effort you and Jim put forth during each hunt to try to harvest Kansas turkeys. The weather threw a curve ball at us but you worked thru the adverse conditions to still provide a successful Kansas turkey hunt.  You know, as I stated many times during the hunt, its not all about the harvest for me, its the experience. Good luck this season and hope to see everyone again next spring. Thanks again to everyone and may God bless you all."

"Hans, I just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you again. You, your family, and Jim all made me feel like a part of the family. Even though my stay was a brief period of time (thanks to a successful hunt), I had a great time."

"My father and I came to Kansas during the spring of 2015 to knock a Rio Grande off our bucket list. From the time I called to inquire and book the hunt until the time we left Dirt Road Outfitters with four long beard Rios we were treated like long lost family. The main turkey guide Jim is a super fun person to hunt with and has a wealth of knowledge about the sport. We saw lots of high quality birds, lots of land to hunt, excellent home cooked meals with good accommodations. Would recommend this outfitter to anyone. We also cannot wait to go back!"
