Jim Smith

Jim Smith has bow hunted in Stafford County, Kansas since 1968. In 1971 he harvested his first whitetail with a bow. Since then he has harvested at least 20 Pope & Young Kansas whitetail deer on his Kansas bow hunts. Most of his hunting has occurred on properties managed by the Fritzemeier family farm. One the bucks he is most proud of is 162" whitetail deer. Jim is the definition of Mossy Oak's saying "It's not a passion, it's an obsession." Hunting everything from whitetail deer, chasing the gobbles of the Rio- Grande turkeys in spring time to occasionally hunting buffalo, wild hogs, elk, & last but no least Dall sheep; Jim certainly knows what he is doing with a bow in his hands. He is also very passionate about passing the hunting tradition on to the next generation, & has enjoyed many good years of guiding his grandkids on hunts on Kansas bow hunts at the Fritzemeier's/ Dirt Road Outfitters. Jim thoroughly enjoys all the meat he harvests, & has a very good reputation for properly cleaning the meat before it is transported to the meat locker. With a chronic wasting case noted in Stafford County in 2011, it is vital to have someone know what they are doing with the game meat in there hands so that disease does not spread out of the state of Kansas to a state where chronic wasting has never occured in whitetail deer before.

Jim has bow hunted all of our properties since 1968, & has an excellent memory of where to put new stand for a new hunter on a Kansas bow hunts. He also knows where to relocate a stand if we are not seeing any deer in that particular location. As a team member of Dirt Road Outfitters Jim helps us with many things that include part-time guiding (he enjoys a good tipper as well), dressing out the deer meat, sighting in your bow for you Kansas bow hunts, bow stand placement, food plot placement, & telling you all of his hunting adventures.
